Discrete Exterior Calculus (DEC) is a relatively recent numerical method for solving partial differential equations based on ideas of differential topology and geometry. In this talk will present the theory of DEC in 2D from a geometric point of view, using Vector Calculus and Matrix Algebra. We present analytical and numerical comparisons of DEC and the Finite Element Method with linear interpolation functions (FEML) for the Poisson equation.
