Local topological algebraicity of analytical sets

We will review some results concerning the algebraization of germs of analytic sets by using equisingular deformations. We will also explain how to construct in an effective way, for a given complex algebraic set X, an algebraic set defined over the algebraic numbers that is homeomorphic to X.
