Author's guide for the "Boletín de la SMM"

The Boletín de la Sociedad Matemática Mexicana publishes original high-quality research articles in all areas of mathematics and its applications as well as invited survey articles. All submitted articles are refereed.

Submission of an article for publication in the Boletín de la Sociedad Matemática Mexicana implies the commitment of the author or authors that such paper has neither been previously published nor simultaneously being considered for publication in any other journal.

Articles should be sent by email to one of the editors, in a PDF or PS version. Authors are asked to consider the following recommendations:

Present the articles in a neat form, so that there is no confusion with regard to the meaning and position of the characters and symbols. If needed, ask for help to a native English-speaking person to attain concise and proper language writing.

Set figures and tables at the end of the article, with indications in the body of the text as to where they should be inserted. Clearly draw and label them with the corresponding number or letter. Preferably, supply the electronic file of the figures.

Headings must be as short and concise as possible. Inclusion of mathematical symbols is not advisable.
If the title of an article exceeds 50 characters, provide a shorter running head for the even pages. In case there are multiple authors, the list of the names should be supplied, to appear as center heads in odd pages, without exceeding 50 characters.

Write an abstract at the beginning of the paper. If the paper is written in a language other than English, include an abstract in English.

Set the AMS classification number, as well as key words and phrases at the bottom of the first page.

Divide the text into numbered sections, each with a short title. Within each section, numbering should begin with the section number and continue progressively, independently of whether it is a theorem, lemma, definition or formula, and be set in parentheses. Place formula numbers flushed with the left margin of the page, enclosed in parentheses to set them apart from the formula, for instance: Definition (2.1), Lemma (2.2), (2.3) "formula", Theorem (2.4), etc. The text of theorems, lemmas and corollaries should be written in Italics.

Include at the end of the paper, before the references, the names of the institution or institutions to which the author wants to give credit, together with the complete postal address and e-mail of the author or authors.

Order the bibliography alphabetically by authors’ surname, and write the author’s names in natural order beginning with the first letter of the name. Write in Italics the titles of articles published in any journal, followed by the name of the journal, abbreviated according to the standards of the Mathematical Reviews. Volume number must be written in bold face, the year of publication in parentheses and finally the page references. For books, after the name of the author, give the title, publisher, city, and year of publication, all in Roman type.
